Open Eco-homes - 12/13 September 2015

Open Eco-homes

Our latest Green Open Home weekend features bus tours and opportunities to visit a huge range of energy efficient houses around Greater Manchester and beyond as well as workshops and a networking lunch at our retrofit 'hub'.

All over Greater Manchester householders have been investing in the energy efficiency of their homes saving energy bills, cutting carbon and improving comfort. Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September 2015 is your opportunity to visit these homes and meet the people who made these changes. You can view all kinds of improvements, everything from external wall insulation to solar panels to innovative heating and ventilation systems.

There are loads of ways to get involved:

  • Arrange a visit direct with a householder, the list of homes and booking links can be found below, order as early as possible as spaces do book up quickly.
  • Get on board our bus tours (1.30pm-4.30pm, Sat 12th Sept) of eco-homes in South Manchester - there is a tour  suitable for anyone with an interest in retrofit: https://green-bus-tour-2015.eventbrite.co.uk or an 'advanced' tour of two eco-home projects in progress: http://adv-green-bus-tour-2015.eventbrite.co.uk
  • Attend the Open Eco-Homes Weekend Hub (10-12.30pm, Sat 12th Sept), a morning of workshops and drop in advice in the Hulme Community Garden Centre, Straw Bale Class Room followed by a free networking lunch: https://retrofithub-autumn-2015.eventbrite.co.uk
