Carbon Co-op yesterday made a presentation on our retrofit model to Ed Davey MP, Secretary of State for the Department of Energy and Climate Change. Ed was in Manchester to review the eco-credentials of the new Town Hall development.

Green Deal and the Big Society?

On Monday 20th June 2011, Carbon Co-op attended the ‘Green Deal and the Big Society’ event at the Royal Society, London.

Organised by Department of Energy and Climate Change, with keynote addresses from Climate Change Minister Gregg Barker (link to Gregg Barker’s speech) and sustainable homes campaigner and TV presenter Kevin McCloud, it was attended by over 400 people drawn mainly from local authorities but also charities, housing associations, community organisations and private companies.

Carbon Co-op meet DECC Minister Greg Barker

Jonathan Atkinson of Carbon Co-op was part of a delegation of business, local authority and social enterprise leaders to meet DECC (Dept of Energy and Climate Change) Minister Greg Barker on his recent visit to Greater Manchester.

The roundtable event, organised by Business in the Community, offered an opportunity to quiz the minister on upcoming Green Deal plans. The Minister was forthcoming on issues including stimulating household retro-fit, encouraging behavioural change and environmental aspects of the ‘big society’.
