SUMMARY:Heat Pump Community Energy Knowledge Sharing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:A webinar for community energy groups on advising householders on the basics on what to look for in procuring air source heat pumps.\n\n\nDomestic heat pumps are a key technology for supporting UK decarbonisation targets\, but there are many misconceptions about how they work and how people can live well with a heat pump. \nCommunity energy groups are uniquely placed to support householders with heat pump adoption\, through unbiased advice and guidance. \nWhat will the workshop entail? \nIn this best practice webinar\, we will hear from Carbon Co-op Project Officer Marlo High and People Powered Retrofit Training Manager Sandy Rushton on how community energy groups can support householders when procuring heat pumps. \nWe will share our findings from research with householders about specifying\, installing\, and living with heat pumps and help you consider how your community organisation can integrate heat pump advice and support into your existing services. \nThe workshop will consist of a presentation and Q&A lasting one hour\, followed by a 30-minute workshop where attendees will take part in an exercise to start identifying the needs of their service users on the topic of heat pumps. \nThe session will be recorded and made available after the event. \nWho is this workshop for? \nThis is aimed at people who work for UK community energy groups\, who have contact with householders or are responsible for managing services. \nYou don’t need in-depth technical knowledge of heat pumps but a bit of basic working knowledge would help. \nOther information \nThis workshop forms part of Carbon Co-op’s Heat Pump Challenge project funded by MCS Charitable Foundation and Electricity North West Powering our Communities Fund. It is free but we accept donations to support our work. \nThis has been organised in collaboration with People Powered Retrofit.

SUMMARY:Retrofit Calderdale: Thermal Imaging Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Are you a Calderdale resident interested in learning more about home retrofit? Thermal imaging is a great place to start!\n\n\nCarbon Co-op’s Retrofit Calderdale project\, in collaboration with Pennine Community Power\, aims to empower residents in Todmorden to explore the possibilities of retrofitting their homes\, creating cosier spaces\, reducing energy bills\, and improving the efficiency of their homes through knowledge sharing\, workshop events\, and technology. \n \nThis workshop series is for householders interested in learning more about the basics of retrofit\, applying this to your home and sharing knowledge and learning with other local residents. \n \nOur first workshop focuses on thermal imaging cameras and how we can use them to learn more about the energy efficiency of our homes. During the session\, you will: \n\nLearn what thermal imaging cameras are\, how they work and how they can help you gain useful knowledge about the energy efficiency or inefficiency of your home\nPractical activity: walk around nearby streets to practise using thermal cameras to spot heat loss (wrap up warm!)\nDiscuss possible ways of accessing and borrowing thermal imaging cameras to use on your own home\n\nWe will be meeting at Todmorden College in room 201 Stoodley. We are keen to protect everyone’s health as much as we can\, therefore we will be providing face masks and sanitiser\, and welcome and support anyone to use these during the session. We have placed an upper limit of 35 places to ensure we have plenty of space\, and everyone can take part in the activities. Booking is essential for attendance! \n \nWe have planned three more workshops after this event\, scheduled between March and June\, covering topics such as Air Tightness and DIY measures; Retrofit and Flooding; and Home Energy Assessments. Subscribe to our Eventbrite organisation page to be alerted of these and other future workshops and events. \n \nPlease note: These workshops are aimed at householders who want to learn more about retrofit. This is not a workshop for people working in the supply chain or seeking to promote a specific product or service – we will ask salespeople to leave the session.
