SUMMARY:Air Tightness and DIY Measures
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday 2 December\, to discuss Air Tightness and DIY measures. Learn how to get the balance right at a price that suits you!\n\n\nAirtightness and DIY Measures \nAre you a Calderdale resident interested in learning more about home retrofit? Find out what you can do yourself to get your home less draughty! \nAbout the workshop \nOur second workshop focuses on ‘air tightness’ and DIY measures\, on how we can stop losing heat from around the home – through gaps and leaky walls\, open chimneys and flues\, and cold draughts\, how we can apply DIY measures and when we may need to call in expert help. \nDuring the session\, you will: \n \n1.	Learn how to identify draughts around your home \n2.	Get familiar with DIY draught proofing materials and techniques to tackle common draughts around your home \n3.	Understand how to balance need for ventilation with airtightness measures \n4.	Practical activity: using various simple techniques to hunt down draughts in the venue\, and figure out which of the demonstration materials may be suitable for fixing that draught. \nGENERAL INFORMATION \nHebden Royd Town Council\, working with Carbon Co-op\, aims to empower residents in Hebden Bridge to explore the possibilities of retrofitting their homes\, creating cosier spaces\, reducing energy bills\, and improving the efficiency of their homes through knowledge sharing\, workshop events\, and technology. \nThis workshop series is for householders interested in learning more about the basics of retrofit\, applying this to your home and sharing knowledge and learning with other local residents. \nUPCOMING WORKSHOPS \nComing up after this workshop is: \n●	Indoor Air Quality and Ventilation\, Saturday 27th January 2024 \nDo book on to avoid disappointment\, places are limited! \n \nPlease note: These workshops are aimed at householders who want to learn more about retrofit. This is not a workshop for people working in the supply chain or seeking to promote a specific product or service – we will ask salespeople to leave the session.

SUMMARY:EcoHome Lab: Monthly meetup and skill share
DESCRIPTION:*** \nNow in our regular monthly slot – every second Thursday of the month. A hangout for people taking control of their home energy usage and generation. We use open-source hardware and software to gain a better understanding of energy in our homes\, how to make the best use of the energy we generate and reduce energy wasted. \nCatch up on [some of our previous sessions and presentations](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiz1gBPXWVAJ4hzg3zj72hVrXVJgWvzOG). \nUnless there’s a specific title to the session\, it means we have no scheduled speaker and it will be an open session. We welcome contributions. \nThis is a CarbonCo-op (https://carbon.coop/) initiative working close together with OpenEnergyMonitor (https://openenergymonitor.org). \nhttp://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/3/d/c/e/600_397215822.jpeg \nhttp://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/3/e/0/a/600_397215882.jpeg \nTopics will include: \n• Home energy monitoring. \n• House energy performance assessment \n• Sensors – electricity\, gas\, temperature\, humidity\, air quality… \n• User interfaces\, dashboards \n• Smart houses and automation \n• Aggregation of data sources \n• Taking the power back! – Making better use of the surplus power we generate \nWho is it for? \n• Anyone with skills in physical electronics\, web development or programming who wants to use that knowledge to reduce energy and carbon! \n• There will be open space for small groups to focus on adding new sensors or hacking the user interface\, there will always be a ‘newbies’ group for people interested in finding out more.
