Carbon Co-op AGM and ‘Quality Design and Low Carbon Housing’ event
26th April, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
We are hosting our Annual General Meeting followed by an event on Quality Design and Low Carbon Housing.
Event description: Everyone has the right to good quality housing. Energy efficiency retrofit projects are a way to improve existing housing stock, lowering energy bills and reducing carbon emissions. But examples such as Grenfell Tower, Fishwick Road, Preston and a variety of Energy Company Obligation programme demonstrate there are problems in terms of quality, health and safety. The issue is complex involving Government schemes, ‘Big Six’ energy suppliers, large building contractors and local government procurement frameworks.
This event explores what good quality housing upgrades can look like, how standard procurement routes have lead to quality failures and how we can reform the system to make improvements. As part of this we explore issues of social value, equality and Energy Justice.
Preceded by the Carbon Co-op Annual General Meeting with buffet and refreshments
