Lorenza and Paul – Green Open Home – 2018

Lorenza and Paul are opening their home as a part of Carbon Co-op’s Green Open Homes Weekend, 29th and 30th September 2018.
This home is unique in taking a staged approach to retrofit. Lorenza and Paul have balanced raising a young child and limited time and money, with their desire to improve their home.
Watch a short video about this home: https://vimeo.com/142238564
Energy efficiency measures installed:
- Roof fully insulated (2010)
- New highly efficient Worcester combi boiler (installed 2009)
- Cavity insulation with Manchester City Council scheme (2010)
- Rigid Insulation behind external wall timber panelling, front and back (2010)
- FSC insulated external doors (2014)
- FSC timber triple glazed windows, tilt and turn (2014)
- Conscious change and monitoring of occupants’ behaviour
Lorenza and Paul think you should visit their home because:
Our home is a 1960s midterrace, 2bed. We have been approaching and implementing a staged retrofit since 2009, doing work when we have available funds. The measures we have implemented are making a real change to energy savings (money and carbon), so doing a retrofit over a period of time without an initial large lump sum of money is possible.
