Yesterday, along with our partners B4Box, we hosted a learning visit to our Levenshulme Area Based Retrofit Scheme in South Manchester for Salford Mayor (and currently acting GMCA Mayor) Paul Dennet and the Leader of Trafford Council Tom Ross, accompanied by GMCA Head of Low Carbon Dan Griffiths and chair of The SoundPound Group of credit unions Ciara Davies.
More than a simple retrofit scheme, we designed this as a replicable place-based approach to programme delivery, with Carbon Co-op acting as a community-led intermediary to provide a simple, holistic offer for householders whilst aggregating contracting, training, finance and engagement.
We looked back at previous council group works schemes, to look forward and to address the challenges of householder take up, blended finance, on site training and effective retrofit quality.
It was great to share this learning with local policy makers and to think about how the model might be scaled to tackle the growing home energy challenge!
