As a community of members, we are all united by a shared goal: reducing domestic carbon emissions and championing the technical and policy work needed for a fair energy transition. To keep that vital work going, it’s that time of year again—our Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Carbon Co-op members should have already received the formal legal notice direct to their inboxes, so this is just a quick reminder on the blog to get the date in your diary. But even if you aren’t yet a member, you are welcome to come along and find out more about the direction of our co-operative.
The Details
The meeting will take place online on Wednesday, June 24th at 7:00 PM.
We are keeping things streamlined and virtual for the AGM so we can focus efficiently on the essential procedural business that keeps our co-operative ticking over.
What’s on the Agenda?
We will be running through the official cooperative business, which includes:
- A look back (and forward): Reviewing our impact this past year and discussing our future plans.
- The numbers: Presentation of the 2024/2025 accounts and formally considering the application of any profits.
- The technicalities: Voting on the proposal to dis-apply the requirement to appoint an auditor in line with the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014.
- Board Elections: Voting in our leadership for the upcoming year!
Step Up: We Need Your Voice on the Board!
Are you passionate about energy justice and community control? We are particularly keen for Carbon Co-op members from under-represented groups to stand for election. We want our board to reflect the rich diversity of the communities we serve, and we warmly welcome the fresh perspectives you can bring. Let’s make sure our leadership is as vibrant and diverse as our membership. If you aren’t yet a member, don’t worry you can still stand for election to the board—you just need to become a member before the AGM itself.
Coming Soon: Our In-Person Summer Social
We know that an online procedural meeting isn’t exactly a party. That’s why we are saving the real celebrations for later! We are currently planning a much more relaxed, in-person member social event for later this summer. It will be a great chance to properly catch up, share our DIY retrofit stories, and celebrate our collective wins face-to-face. Keep an eye on the newsletter for a ‘save the date’ soon.
