EcoHome Lab: HEMS 2.0 and plans for 2024

11th January, 6:00 pm7:30 pm

Carbon Co-op’s Home Energy Management System (HEMS) is a fleet managed Raspberry Pi, controlling high load devices (EV, battery, immersion etc) in response to [OpenADR](https://www.openadr.org/assets/docs/DTECH2015/what%20is%20openadr.pdf) signals from our [PowerShaper Flex](https://flex.powershaper.io/) service. We’ve now reached the end of [REScoop VPP](https://www.rescoopvpp.eu/) – a 3 year project testing the system in the houses of energy co-operative members in Belgium, Spain, Germany, France and the UK.

With the end of project, we are free to revisit the tech stack and our aspirations for device control to support domestic flexibility. As ever we are keen to hear you ideas!

Catch up on [some of our previous sessions and presentations](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiz1gBPXWVAJ4hzg3zj72hVrXVJgWvzOG).

This is a CarbonCo-op (http://carbon.coop/) initiative working close together with OpenEnergyMonitor (https://openenergymonitor.org).

Topics will include:

• Home energy monitoring.

• House energy performance assessment

• Sensors – electricity, gas, temperature, humidity, air quality…

• User interfaces, dashboards

• Smart houses and automation

• Aggregation of data sources

• Taking the power back! – Making better use of the surplus power we generate

Who is it for?

• Anyone with skills in physical electronics, web development or programming who wants to use that knowledge to reduce energy and carbon!
